It actually worked 1 time. Frankly, I tried SO many things (having absolutely no guidance) that I'm not really sure what worked. Possible conflict. It appears that the Office Service Pack doesn't make a lot of changes to the OS -- at least it doesn't seem to effect functionality of installed productivity/utility apps. I will try the alternate SMTP ports, and will try to figure out how to create and enter an exception for the Windows Firewall.
